Yes, I do remember the TV show of the same name – I adored it! But my story is about a quilt called Love American Style – the hearts represent the Love and the colors are truly American! I’ve had the honor of making many custom quilts and the reasons always touch my heart, but this particular one struck my heart even more because its where I live…
My customer wanted me to make a quilt for her mother as the mother of the bride! Even though my adult children are not getting married they are at the age when you think about it…so I thought about it – I pictured myself as that mother and it just touched me, the sweetness and sentiment involved reminded me how important quilt making can be. To the bride it became the way she could express to her mother how important she was to her especially on her wedding day! Then I pictured the mother and the joy and tears I’m sure at receiving the quilt and the care and thought her daughter put into having it made (I played such a small part in making the quilt, but I’m thrilled to have been able to do it). This special bride even went thru process of colors and patterns to make sure we made the right quilt for her mom. What a delight it has been for me to share this simple story with you. I wish her a lifetime of happiness and many memories for her mom!
